Tunisian Crochet Pop-Up

Wednesday October 2nd

6 - 8 pm

I recently decided I wanted to give Tunisian Crochet a try.  I found a beginner level pattern for wrist warmers on Ravelry and have been learning the basic stitches.  Come join me at Bing String Theory on Wednesday 10/2 and make a pair with me.

The pattern covers these basic techniques:

  • foundation/setup row

  • return pass

  • simple stitch

  • purl stitch

  • bind off

The pattern is Tunisian Quick Mitts from Aklori Design.  It's free on Ravelry and the designer has given me permission to print and distribute it as part of the pop-up. (https://www.ravelry.con/designers/aklori-designs)

Basic crochet skill is required.

There is no fee for attending with your purchase of yarn for the event.

You will need a 4.5mm Tunisian crochet hook (or size required for gauge) which will also be available for purchase.

RSVP to rene@bingstringtheory.com and let me know if you're coming!

Saturday December 14th

1pm  - 3 pm

In this 2 hour class, you will learn basic crochet terminology, the chain, the single crochet stitch, and the double crochet stitch. You will be given a pattern for a simple scarf, which you can complete on your own with the skills you learned in class.

The cost is $20 and is intended for those 12 or older.  You will need 1 skein of worsted weight yarn in a light or medium color and a size H/8 crochet hook.  Materials are available for purchase at Bing String Theory at a 10% discount when registered for the class.

There is no prerequisite for this class. If crochet is brand new to you, you are welcome to join. If you previously learned crochet, but would like a refresher, this class may be suitable for you, too.

The instructor, Rachel Bond, learned to knit in 2006 as a means to manage stress when planning her wedding and learned to crochet a couple of years later. She is a certified crochet instructor with Craft Yarn Council of America since 2012.
